Fall Fashion Trends 2012

This fall fashion trends are in!

I am ecstatic to say leather trends are coming back in!!! leather pants, dresses, suits, and skirts!

Elle Fall 2012 Trend report

Fashionetc Fall 2012 Trend report

I personally LOVE the flared mini leather skirt. It looks cute especially high-waisted with a simple button-up or psychedelic print top (which is also IN this fall).

Also 70's psychedelic prints have made a comeback this season in the most uncommon way... psychedelic pant suits are the new wave this fall.

Prada Fall/Winter 2012

More psychedelic prints!

Aquilano e Rimondi (Fall 2012)

Ofcourse for the Fall/Winter we play with alot of layering, which is why this is always my favorite season for clothing. Who doesn't like a season where you can where the most clothes!
For the most part we can look forward to layering alot of geometric and psychedelic prints, whether they be tops, skirts, pants, or even pant suits.

Color trend:
I am seeing alot of reds, navys, golds, and metallics. Camel desert tones as well. There will be alot of regal prints as well. We should have alot of fun fashion wise this fall.... Who else is excited??!

Triangle Accessories Trend!

If you haven't noticed already popular trends in accessories have taken a geometrical twist this year... I've noticed in common stores such as Forever21, H&M, even Macy's stores are being flooded with triangle necklaces, earrings, pendants, sunglasses, etc... Even on nails!
Not just regular triangles but upside down triangles we see them celebrities such as Rihanna, Beyonce, Snooki, etc.

Found at Forever21

Strangely enough the upside down triangle is supposedly a symbol of the "illuminati"... whether you rock it for fashion or "cough cough" other .... purposes...They are stamped and approved IN!

2012 Spring Fashion Trends

So I'm sure we all have seen popular trends, styles, colors, prints, and silhouettes that are becoming popular for this year in Spring. But just in case you haven't been paying attention... I have for you!

Ladies

Color- I've seen in our common retail stores such as Forever 21, H&M, Old Navy, and Macy's popular Spring colors for 2012 are the cream oranges, lavenders, mint greens, and a little baby pink.
For the conventional consumer, I've also seen the classic colors such as navy, cream, nude, beige, white, and a splash of scarlet red.
The biggest colors I'm seeing becoming the most popular are bold and dull shades of orange and red. They seem to be the breakout colors of 2012.

Prints- Prints for this year are going back to the basics: polka dots (small and big) and stripes. The black base color with white polka dots and white base color with red stripes have taken over most of the retail stores. There seems to be a "Nautical" theme and a "60's" theme reoccurring. There are a few loose items of the "Navajo/Native American" theme and the "Tribal" themes for those unconventional consumers, but we're mostly sticking to the classic look this Spring. There aren't alot of bold colors or weird geometric prints out as much as last Spring/Summer 2011, (which I miss) but the sweet, "baby" shaded colors are hard to resist this year!

Silouhettes/Fabrics- Of course this is Spring, so you're going to see ALOT of loose blouses, dresses (short and long), even the flare pant/jean has made a comeback. Goodbye Skinny jeans, and hello Flare pants. I for one will take a bit longer to get used to this trend because I absolutely adore my skinny jeans! With a new year comes change, so I'll have to adapt. SInce about 2 summers ago, we experimented with the longer dresses and more relaxed look and it has now become a fashion sensation. There isn't one fashion-forward woman out there without atleast one maxi (long) dress in her closet for the Spring. They are just the way to go for the Spring and the Summer. They are stylish and comfortable. Even short dresses are loosely fitting in fabrics such as chiffon and tons of knits.
Another clothing construction I'm noticing are in woven fabrics but with a box-like structure/ fit. Alot of tops and dresses are in the box-like fit, I'm not seeing alot of darts or princess seams that would give that nice structured fitted look. More of the skirts have the fitted look and alot are above the knee with "pencil" fit. There aren't alot of minis, the shortest I've seen are somewhat above the knee and they are becoming extremely popular! The high-waisted look I don't think will ever go out of style now. It made it's return last year... and I think it's here to stay. The ultimate day-to-evening look for Spring 2012: fitted blazer, loose chiffon, polka dot blouse, paired with high-waisted skirt and a thin beige belt.
For my fellow plus size girls, the loose chiffon blouses are a HIT! I'm also seeing a popular trend of shoulder cutouts which give the loose silhouette a sexy twist, and I LOVE it!

Accessories- Huge frames, bold colors in shades! I love the circle/oval shape of the shades for this summer. They look very Mod. Also the clear focals with leopard or even zebra frames are catching on more and more!
I am happy to say finally gold and copper tones are extremely popular in jewelry this year! I am a golden girl myself, I wear nothing but gold accesories... that's just me. The earrings and necklaces are very dramatic this year... some are very weird but the most popular that is catching on are the long feather earrings; they are simply to die for. Preferably the peacock feathers are IN! Extremely long beaded necklaces and gold/copper chains are IN! So this year, we've pulled back on making the clothing very busy in color, and unloaded the works on the accessories. This year, keep it simple with your wardrobe, and go CRAZY with accessories! ACCESSORIZE, ACCESSORIZE, ACCESSORIZE! I can't say it enough.

Nails- I've noticed alot of dark browns and blacks taking over the celebrities nail looks, and found it odd because we normally leave those colors back in the winter. However with such light colors the contrast of the darker tone nail looks perfect together. But fear not because the duller color tones are taking over by storm: gray, nude, lavendar, aquamarine, and of course creamsicle orange. Alot of duller color tones of the primary and complimentary colors look amazing on the hands. Also, the popular "pointy" tips are unfortunately OUT. The short tips are IN! And... I LOVE them!

Shoes- Wedges are definitely in, as they are every Spring. Also metallic flats are going to take Spring by a storm. I am also digging the open-toe booties, most I've seen with laces. In terms of heels there are of course the classic ever popular platforms, and newly popular vintage round-toe button, strap vintage heels. These pair up perfectly with the 60's silhouettes, prints, and colors.

Men

Prints- I honestly don't pay attention to men's fashion as much as I do women's fashion, but it's hard not to miss the surprisingly catching prints becoming popular for men, LEOPARD! Yes, it is official! It can be seen on celebrities such as Drake, Kanye West, Lil Twist, etc. I even saw a young, heterosexual man casually walking in the rain the other day with a leopard umbrella! This was shocking to see in Jamaica, Queens, seeing as men don't take too kindly to animal prints in "the hood".

Our Generation

After having a long random conversation with my mom, my 2 great aunts, and myself, we covered alot of topics but basically everything was surrounding the topic of... our generation. My generation, and even my mother's, but moreso mine. My generation is ultimately all about letting it all hang out. There are no more secrets, there is no more privacy. Alot of men are becoming openly bisexual and, don't get me wrong I have NO problem whatsoever with homosexuality because I have tons of gay males as friends -love them btw :)- but what hope do any of us successful, independent, single-straight male seeking women have left when our only options are either cheating good-looking men, successful fine bisexual men, good-looking drug dealers and ofcourse broke regular adoring men. Now there is nothing wrong with a man that's broke who has potential, and adores the ground you walk on...who truly loves you; then you've found a diamond in the rough, the only hard part about that is sticking it out, and riding it out with your man. But with time, you never know... he could be the fine, successful man you made better and stuck through it because love was enough. These are the fairy tales we all like to believe and try to make reality, but we are LIVING in reality... and the reality is women have become adjusted to settling. We are settling for the successful, wealthy man that we've made okay for him to cheat because he's draping me in diamonds and a lavish lifestyle, so what do I have to complain about. It's okay to settle for the man that is dealing on the side, stealing, breaking every law humanly possible, because I'm not a basketball wife but he makes me feel like one, he treats me like one...btw, these men are also almost ALWAYS cheating on you as well. We're settling for any man PERIOD because the pickings are short. Most of them have gone to play completely for the other team, so what choice do we have? I've even seen some women settle for the bisexual man that is fine as wine, but the woman feels hey, I'm old, ugly and I don't have it any better than this. Women have become tired and are simply settling for the simple fact to fit into society's opinion that if you are over 30 and are still without a man, something has GOT to be wrong with you...not the man. My generation has basically lost its values...its value period. There is no more full package... we've gotta take it as they come. But shouldn't we want more...we as women...shouldn't we WANT more from him? And if he can't give it to us, then shouldn't we just let him go...or are we worth it?

Slavery...

So I'm watching the Color Purple, and I'm sitting here thinking to myself... what exactly was the POINT  of slavery? I watched the scene where Celie is in the supermarket and the preacher's wife is holding her daughter, the conversation passes and a (ofcourse racist) white man or store keeper scares the crap out of Celie to the point where she just runs out of the store. The white man looked puzzled and another on-looking white woman looked scared/disgusted. What was the point of her looking at her that way? She wasn't an alien, she wasn't some kind of demon, or bacterial disease walking the earth...she was a human being. So why did they even bring us here from a whole other country? Why because they were extremely insecure with THEMSELVES and disgustingly lazy that they decided to travel 50,000 miles across the country to Africa to find people to do their work for them? And on top of that do the most horrible, despicable and inhumanly disgusting things to another race... and then with a smile on their face call us "black monkeys" "niggers" and any other degrading name they could think of...this I ask was for what? To make yourself feel better? I came up with all of this because just seeing that extra in the movie (white lady shopper) look at Celie in that way as if she ASKED to darken your doorstep with her presence. Bitch! you brought her here so why look at her as if you never wanted her here in the first place...that's extremely backwards and stupid to me... But we're the dumb "black monkeys"....Hmmm.

Girls and Video Games

Okay so I have no problem with an occasional Guitar Hero or like Mortal Combat or something, but up all night playing Call of Duty, or NBA 2K12, or Madden...is absolutely ridiculous to me! How does one manage to manifest that much energy to practically go blind bleeding their eyes out til 4am....to play...a game? Yeah, something's gotta be wrong with that. Is there nothing else creative to do in the day that you need to devote that many hours to....a game? Me personally, I am too creative a person to be stuck doing something for HOURS...unless it's productive. Even when I'm sewing a garment I cannot sit there for hours doing it, like I need to take a break every once in a while. I believe most guys get lost in the games living out there high-school fantasies in a virtual reality and the longer they can stretch it out, the better. Some girls are able to entertain this and often join in, but be careful. Men want a buddy and the booty, but if they start to feel TOO comfortable with you like you're one of the dudes... I don't think your man will find that sexy. I just got an epiphany that maybe that is why men don't like their women to play video games with them or know more sports than them, because sports and video games is their escape from us. That's their chance to be lazy, dirty, and just plain ol guyish with their friends...men don't wanna do that with someone they think is sexy and wanna cuddle with. maybe some men find a guyish girl sexy...I dunno, it's just my opinion.
